The Annual Residential temporary statewide burn ban will be in effect from March 16 to May 14 designated to reduce wildfire risks during early Spring, when melting snow exposes dry vegetation and low humidity increases fire hazards. During this period, burning brush, leaves, tree limbs, and yard debris is prohibited statewide.
New Yorkers can help prevent fires in communities and in the backcountry by complying with the prohibition.
